I just realised that I have never been to this

Image
... Loy Krathong I mean one can boast the amount of time and places that have been into Thailand but surely it doesn't count if you have never experienced this celebration. Actually I have never been in Thailand for Songkran as well but then again, it's just water and compared to this...aaah. Another to the bucket list? And they said, its most beautiful in Chiang Mai...but they call it Yi Peng and it's all about the lantern. Imagine witnessing this with someone special. Where's that damn bucket?

Can't describe the feeling

It's funny that once you're back, all you could think about are the contradictions. One day you are driving in the open road, with fabulous views of the mountain on the left and vast lake on the right and before you know it, you are stucked in a non moving traffic which is the equivalent of a massive carpark. And then you are stuck back in the same room with no view and thinking to yourself how long do you have to do this? Is it worth it anymore and of course the answer is no. But there's just so much to do and in order not to sound ungrateful you just get the week over and done with and then look forward to soaking in the sun over the weekend. What else can one do anyway? I know for myself, I need to weather through this year with so many plans albeit hanging in the air for next. Then out of nowhere I find myself wanting something. Yes at 30-something there is still something that you wish you have and I realised that it's been so long but I miss the feeling of tou...

My one fav piece from NZ, a candle with abstract picture of Our Lady at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament that became a quake survival symbol after turning about 180 degree to look out of a tower window over the battered city.

Sustainability

The most fantastic idea ever, turning bombs (what's left from it anyway) into jewellery. And using the proceeds to pay for cleaning after the bombs. There are still many active/inactive bombs left in Laos. Fashion with a purpose and a story.

Experiences in life changes the way you look at life. It could be after the death of a loved one, having your heart broken, seeing your child for the first time or even experiencing a new place. And that is the beauty of living. I find it so easy to be extra philosophical about life when I travel, which is another reason why I love travelling. It used to be very much what sites I want to see, what can I buy (yes I still buy them and I relish the little bits and pieces that I've collected from all over the world)but these days, it's a little more than that. I suppose when we travel, we can afford to look at life from a macro point of view or in layman term, bigger picture. Our daily lives and routines trap us into going with the flow and not seeing the whole thing in totality. Are we doing it right? Is this the way it should be? No..and instead we are just doing things for the sake of doing. Travel pulls us out from the bubble and forces us to take time, away from our situat...

National Coming Out Day - My Story

Image
Everyone has a story when it comes to coming out and that's nice. Since it's the National Coming Out Day, thought I would like to share mine, it's nothing special. Maybe so for me because it wasn't anything dramatic or life changing and perhaps thats the way it should be. But it changed the course of my life and I cannot imagine living otherwise. I remembered coming out to a bunch of friends in high school towards the end of the course, I don't remember why I did it but I just did it. It didn't feel weird and after that, it has become easier and I have never live my life pretending to like girls etc anymore. I didn't pretend to be not gay in my college and has always been out at work. I guess cats can go like, yeah well who are you kidding if you don't come out, people already knew - but hey at least I have the guts to live my life the way I want it to be. Alot of people sadly are still in the closet. Everyone lives a different life and with different ...

First World Problem Strikes Again

Image
I have said it once and I will say it again, first world problem is not really a problem. Thanks to this new campaign below from TheGiftOfWater, we have third world people with ACTUAL real problems reading out problems that people like you and me think it's the biggest since slice bread. Gay people are not different when it comes to being self absorbed with the me me me mentality - the world doesn't owe us everything and is not all about finding boyfriends and love and boyfriends or being depressed when you don't have one or being depressed when you have one that comes with problem. Like seriously.

The Nerdist

Image
Chris Hardwick - Total nerd, total standup and host. Total hotness. Why are the geeks getting hotter and hotter? Maybe it's just me. Hot bodied men in skimpy trunks are nice and all but give me a nerd anytime. Esp one with glasses and facial hair. Muah!

Beauty

Image
There are days when I feel really guilty, I am always in love with beauty. Anything beautiful and expensive. Well, not always have to be expensive but yes exclusive. The story behind the beauty, how they packaged it, brand it - what can I say? I am an ad person and I buy into advertising. I am also a silly romantic which is why I also buy into the history because all these things are no different from the mass produced cheap high street items except it's heritage and brand story. The small interlocked C's are cute, no? So ya, money goes this way. I still feel guilty.
