By choice

One of the best thing about being a single twenty something or rather late one at it , living in a city and earning considerably decent amount of money with no care in the world is the ability to do what I like and make the choices that I want. One case for matter is that ironing a pile of clothes nearly and always does kill me and hence I’ve decided to stop even though I am halfway towards finishing. I mean, I have enough in the closet to last me for a month anyway so why push myself over something so trivial? How about when you feel like pigging out in KFC or the sudden rush of finishing work as soon as possible and take the fastest route to the mall for a session of therapy – you can just do it and be far from apologetic about it. However there is some things that even a self proclaimed fabulous single twenty something have to do and more than often it comes either as part of the job or just the because one has to be adult or man about it. I have to confess that again of late, m...

Not quite the same again

Of late, there’s just way too many on goings that went right being upfront uncomfortable down to my very veins and nerves. The people in general have welcomed a new arrival and change with anticipation and hope for the better. The best thing about being a human is that we have hope that afloat and carry us through all the difficult time to beyond. But it is with this same hope that many were lost in mission for hunt of the pasture that has more green. It is also the same hope for change that never materialize for the Cuban when Castro seize the government and you can still watch those black and white clips of people dancing and celebrating on the street. The future and possibilities were endless. Fast forward to HD TV and Internet TV age, nothing much has change; people are still poor and still hoping for change. But that’s just one instance and typically if it’s not the change in government then it would be the one in everyone’s daily lives. At least it doesn’t wait for every four...

The awful truth

Something has got me alarmed yesterday as I was driving a colleague back from lunch. We chatted about many things and it went about to my love for all things material or specifically bags. I assumed nothing until the topic went to how my love for arm candies is universally known via my blog. Now it's no secret that I have an addiction but I know not that anyone from work actually reads my blog. Okay, so I didn't go through all the lengths to hide things and choose to speak about them bluntly but there are a couple of things here and there that I won't want some people to know especially when it was in reference to them. Though it was the truth but it doesn't sound very nice and I don't think anyone can handle them. Hell, even I can't handle it myself sometimes. So nonchalantly I've asked her how did she came across my blog and apparently someone whom we knew mutually has shared it with her. I really can't think of anyone who would know about them apart ...

My love

Image
There hasn’t been many true or great love in my life and many of them up to a certain extend can be classified as laughable or almost joke-like. But then again I’ve always looked back and think of them as essentials for me to learn and grow in this life. But there has someone or rather something that has always been with me and I have never really talk about it. Ladies and gents, let me introduce you to my Great Love #2 (#1 spot is taken by bags, belts and shoes) – mixed pork organ porridge. I know the first reaction upon reading this would be disgust or even shock. That a classy girl such as me would indulge in such peasant like food and behavior. But then again there’s nothing I love more than porridge and there’s nothing in the world that can compare to mix pork organ type. For those uninitiated, mix pig organ porridge is basically just like any other Chinese type porridge as the base but the extra ingredient are normally made out from pig’s blood cubes, intestines (deep fried or ...

Ch-ch-ch changes

There was once not too long ago that someone who used to be in advertising for many years and incidentally was my ex boss as well told me when he has nothing to do, he will study or rather look at people and observe the things that they do. I felt that it was rather strange and though I thought observing people might make me a better ad man, I never really did pick that up as a habit. Fast forward to four years later, I’ve found looking and laughing as I see people go about with their own things in my free time. One such occasion was during Cook’s long call and honestly aside from looking around there wasn’t much that I can do seeing that smoking was prohibited in the building (though some lawyers were busy puffing away, I’ve decided not to take the risk since I wasn’t one to begin with and there’s a 2 year jail sentence warning at every corner that I turned to) and I didn’t bring anything worth looking at. At one corner, there’s the bunch of overly pompous old fart lawyers with ...

A vision that I don't want to see

So who would have thought that I’ve been reduced to this at all? Yes there was no excuse to bail out from it but somehow deep within myself I have felt that I have entered another phase of my life. Maybe just a small circle. I feel like keeping mum. The feelings and the questions, just put them aside but I guess it’s nothing compared to the intolerable boredom which I have suffered throughout the weeklong holiday. It all started right from the beginning, in fact Lunar New Year’s eve itself whereby I was contemplating to either sleep or just read something since earlier the day and till late I have found myself walking non stops in malls. Guessed I was saved by a call from my boss to go out drinking. Yes I was that bored. Drinks. So throughout the holidays there was nothing much from my friend’s end as they have their family duty to perform and all the shops are closed. The whole thing almost made me regret the fact that I passed over the offer for a free holiday overseas and come t...

Cheap and Chic

I have done a few rounds of shopping of late despite the busy schedule that I have kept prior to the holidays and many of them included childbearing like pain that was inflicted upon this thing called the Visa card but I am proud to say that each and every one of them was worthwhile. Either it’s something for the parents or the sister or me, me and me. I still can’t get over the fact that I have spend like nearly 500 bucks for my combined trip to Parkson but it was worthy as the outcome was not just 1 or 2 or 3 but in totality, 5 long sleeve shirts and one polo t-shirt. Then there was the 30 bucks worth of fedora hat, 5 and 15 bucks belt which looked totally nice on me and all and all made me felt like I am actually quite a smart shopper and really saving a lot. I know, the last statement actually made people cringed but the fact is I am going to spend anyway so I might as well make it worthwhile and smart. But my best purchase yet would be the one I made in F.O.S. Yes, ladies and ...

Bittersweet

I guess I have been reduced to this – just going back and forth about what had happened and that’s about all there is to me now. What happened to the mind? The thoughts? The questioning? What happened to Daniel? He’s here alright, deep within me probably fighting with other facets of myself which has been duly busied with work of late. But then again when am I not burdened with them? I just don’t know why I have been feeling a little low on energy and couldn’t perform as well and as much as I used to when I started 6 months ago. Those who have been doing this for years (like my bosses), are they inhuman? Maybe all I need is a break from it all and thank God the CNY holidays are just around the corner. Feeling low on energy is one thing but knowing that you are low and can’t do anything about it is another. The weekends or any rest time in between is just for sleeping or doing relaxing things like reading or watching DVD and nothing else. Even after an 8 hour sleep, I woke up feel...

One day too many

Image
But then I have my friends and more. So the whole week actually started with a weekend getaway with my colleagues or should I say friends at work to celebrate one of the guy’s birthday. I was there for the beer and the smoking which was allowed in the pool. Don’t ask me how we achieve that but we did and I have always thought that seeing people from outside their usual zone like work or drink place will let you see a different and deeper aspect of themselves and so that I did. However the drinking didn’t just stop there. Back at work on Monday and we hit the bar again and this time was the birthday boy’s turn to thank all of us for showing up at his do over the weekend and I was pretty thrashed the next day but still managed to scrape myself up for an early morning meeting. I didn’t think too much about it until Wednesday when I received another invitation for an ex colleague’s belated birthday do – I excused myself because I didn’t even know that person but still managed to get to...

Tis the new season

Image
I had the luxury of looking at some of this season’s new look and trust me it was really a luxury to have a wee free time at work and I was actually stunned for awhile thinking of things to do to pass the time. Naturally I have surfed all my usual blogs and news spots so the next best thing is to hit the runway – online speaking. Can’t be responsible to say that I trendspotted something because it came out first on one of the blogs that I regularly visit, nitrolicious (among many which includes bryanboy, popjustice, launch UK, thebaghag and purseblog) who highlighted this jacket by Balenciaga from the Fall/Winter 07 collections. I mean, not only the jacket looked hot but you need to check out those shoes as well. Woman really got it easy with some many designers focusing on some real fierce footwear for them. Last year was mad with so many hits from Marc Jacobs (remember the gladiator inspired ones and heels on the toe end of the shoes). But then again Balenciaga is not exactly aff...

Hi I am (turning) 27

Image
I have always remembered that in the past, there’s the coming of Christmas which everyone will usually be emo and then the New Year (usually doing a lot of nothing) and lastly my birthday. Of course the big bang would normally be Chinese New Year and then everyone has to get back to their normal schedule and wait for this cycle of holidays and celebration to come again. Out of all the events the one I usually detest the most (for the past few years) is of course my birthday. There was a time or many for that matter which I felt that there was little next to no reasons for celebration. After all, you get your birthday on a yearly basis without any effort anyway so what’s the cause for commotion at the first place. Coupled that with the fact that I have always felt the need to celebrate that day with someone which I have yet to find and time seems to b ticking as I am one year older – it is all very depressing indeed. I must confess that initially I have the same reservations as well for...

Falling into the pattern

Image
One thing that I’ve learnt over the past few weeks is that I have absolutely no self control whatsoever. My indulgence or rather my passion for certain things in life could really consume me and thankfully not all of them are hazardous. Then again, the fire from the same passion is also my saving grace – work. Work that consumes you and take your mind and body away from every other thing in life. Work that satisfies you in many ways that no other can or does it in a healthy way. While contrary to last year whereby I have took the last two weeks of the year off, this year I have only managed two days. But on both occasion I was present at work so that didn’t really count for anything. However there was mini gaps in between and I somehow managed to think and indulge too much. Take for example of my indulgence in spending/shopping too much – it’s no secret anymore that I am quite a shopaholic and true to the tag, I went ahead and blown the credit over this little baby. I actually ...

Not a pretty sight

So you know the party (or parties) is officially over when you ran out money/holidays and sadly find yourself parked back at your cubical typing away. While things are supposedly to return back to normality there's still a couple of them who are away on leave and your clients aren't exactly back in town either. Things are going so slow that deciding to either poke your eyes out with a pencil or pull your hair out sounds very promising. For me, getting out from bed was quite a drag this morning (then again, I am always a drag at work so some say). After surviving a whole day in bed, I have a feeling that I still need to stay in it a little longer. No idea what prompted the surge for vomiting but that was the first thing I did when I woke up on the 1st day of 2008. My mum suggested that it was the drinks but like helllo, why would everyone I spoke to blame it on hangover and etc when all I had was just one measly cup of vodka juice. I think it is more of a reaction or rather prot...

Look backward move forward

As I looked back at the week that has past, I really don't know what I am feeling exactly. I know it's sad that these days I have been reduced to just recap but the whole week has been fucking busy for me. I know...even Cookie is less than amused with me being busy this busy that but really...I am. Busy but happy. So just to clear everything out, I have been caught with some planning work and have to juggle them between what I called my day job which is the execution bit and running out. Sometimes I wished I could just concentrate on one thing but that's just life. Challenges and that's the way I like it. I am actually writing this as I parked my ass in Pavilion's Starbucks (which btw their service is extremely slow hence congratualations for setting the record for the longest waiting time for drink to be prepared) and I am not saying that as a flaunt. Anyone can afford an RM10++ drinks these days anyway. So it's refreshing to be out of my house for once to just...

Is there nothing left to say?

How do you squeeze a whole week of experiences into words? I guess with my usual bantering style I wouldn’t have too much problem but somehow there’s just so much on my mind that I don’t know where to start. If it was work I would normally start off with a recap of what has happened or last said so it has to be busy busy last week because I had to leave for training over Friday and lasted until Sunday evening. By then I was really tired emotionally, mentally (which was both very good) and also physically because of abit of partying that we did but that’s another story. Come Monday morning while still being abit raw there was a need to mad rush over work and somehow I found it hard to concentrate. Coupled that with the fact that though I was ok, nobody around me were and I can’t help being pulled into their problems. Maybe I have this new attitude of care which is why I was worried about someone at work – that someone is the nicest person on earth and I can’t help but to feel more t...

In not too many words

It’s oh so quiet December Neither warm nor cold can I feel Noel’s twinkle shines not on me Its Illumination not reflected from me Just another season to get by A long journey ahead called time It’s not like I am the desperate type Will get long fine by and by But if I can muster up the courage To face the cold as the brave Chances on you I take From this winter I would break But then I am nothing more than myself And that’s all there is to give and tell In mid December quiet and dark The only cold is my heart

The sense of serenity

It’s funny how sometimes a little of taste or scent can bring you back to a certain period of time in your life, evoke warm and fuzzy feelings within and make you feel as if one can’t turn back time then this will be the next best thing. To me, it would be my mother’s cooking that makes it taste and feel like home, the scent on someone’s else body or it could even be your friends. I mean BO aside, everyone do have their own distinctive scent – a concoction of beauty or fabric product that they used at home. By next January, it would be exactly 6 years since I’ve first met C. I have talked about him a couple of times before. During one of the little time that we spend with each another, he left an impression or rather scent on me that have lasted since then. He is a big fan of buying various perfumes (technically, it’s not a perfume because it’s not Eau De Parfum but Eau De Toilette but we Malaysian don’t care, do we?) and stuff and really into those manly types (which suits his perso...

Resort To This

Image
As I was surfing around to look the the usual blogs, guessed what I bumped into? Hell. I don't need any persuading to click and I was immediately taken to the latest for Marc by Marc Jacobs and I really hate myself. Hate myself for not being rich that is. Check out Little Miss Marc (and Little Mr Marc as well?), I have always been crazy about LMM ever since I saw it on some of the tote and shit but it's just so freaking expensive. What do you think? Isn't LMM the cutest thing on earth?

Try as I may Hard as I try You on my mind Hard to get by Stone or Stone+ is one of the more popular photograph collections from image bank. Now some of you might have heard about image bank before - basically a collection of editorial and creative images for us advertising and creative to use. Saves time and money if you can't afford a shoot or just need that little bit of inspiration. I go there from time to time to look for strong pictures or just to find something that says what I am feeling at that particular time or momemt. Anyway, I am just talking thrash.

No One

The thing about advertising is really funny, no matter how much I write and talk about it one can’t really understand the scope and the power of the profession unless you are in it. To the people who are in it (long enough anyway), we bitched about how hard life is but fundamentally speaking, we are a bunch of people who are passionate about the things that we do. No where else or anything else can come closer to that. But what happens if you are in it for the ride? Or just glam? Most of them doesn’t last long and if they are – a pain in the ass to work with. I am not about to say that I am the perfect worker or the most hardworking around and in fact I considered myself as lazy but like how my Traffic (coordinator for work flow) put it – everyone is born lazy and wants to be lazy but we have no choice but to do. However there are some people who are willing to just be lazy and do not care. And that person is my immediate manager. I know that I have been complaining about her in th...
