I think, I see, I know

There is always this romantic concept especially when it comes to the west, one takes a trip down to some less than glamourous nevertheless spritual land and you will imediately think Eat, Pray, Love faster than you fart and to a great extend that is true for many people. The world is indeed fill with lost people and capitalism has left us asking more questions, wondering what is the point of this and that and to when will all unhappiness and yearning for more ends. But that's not the trip I booked for. Perhaps it was more Eat, LookSee and the Love part, I would just be happy with a Fling. But life has a funny way to twist things around and nope, still no Love or Fling but that's kinda expected. After all, I paid for a holiday, not hunk. India is indeed very beautiful, just as I would have expected it to be. I did get alot of whys and whats when people found out that I intended to go there and I am always amazed by those questions - I mean it's one of the oldest civilizatio...

Really both sides now

Don't know about you but more often than not, I caught myself being the green eyed monster that I could be whenever I see, hear or read about something better for someone. It could be someone getting someone, someone getting some, getting more money, travel more, do more and basically perceived as better off as compared to me. This perception is purely my own of course because if I look at it from other angles, I ain't that bad. That's the thing about life, it's so easier to be jealous and wishing that you could be living that so called charmed life that you always wanted and yet I think little about the sacrifice and also the hurdle along the way that one must cross. I was envious of this bunch of Singaporean bloggers who can afford all the fabulousity but secretly I laughed over their dramas of taking public transport - it's no fun carryin a Fendi bag if you gotta share it with a truckload of people, some who can be quite smelly. At least I have my good o'le f...

When I was young

Image
So I spent my early Saturday morning today at the client's for some work - this is the 2nd Saturday and looks to me like it's going to be from time to time. It's not really hard work, more like done as a favour to them and I have to confess that I was feeling a little nervous speaking in front of 40+ kids but kids are easy to trick. I was more worried about not being able to wake up on time on the weekend. Right after that, I headed to a mall and seriously, by the time I was there around 11ish, all the parking spots were gone. I really couldn't fanthom how people can spend their weekends at the mall, esp one that is perpetually crowded like that one. Ok, I have to confess I did spent unreasonable time at the mall when I was dating Him but anyway that's one of the many stupid things people do when they think they are in love. Going back, I took a drive via some old roads to avoid traffic jam, down the lane where I used to live. Things didn't change much. It was s...

The death of romance

Image
This is something old which was shared a little while back then, this video by The Onion News Network fictionalize a terrible future in which the cinemas exploded with Katherine Heigl films due to some accident, with her usual selections of shitty rom coms. With titles like There & Back (ala Up In The Air), The Love CEO (pairing with usual suspect Paul Rudd), 30Love, Like Sisters, Holidaze, Venus & Mars (with Bradley Cooper) and other rubbish titles. Fictional it may be, for those who are exposed to hazardous crap like these all the time, you couldn't help but wondered if there is some truth to it. To me, the genre of rom com truly died when I was forced to go through the very ugly Ugly Truth. I managed to guess the set up of the ending before the movies ends and that goes to show how formulaic it has become. Sure, these days it's abit more about being gritty with the likes of Hitch and He's Not That Into You but it doesn't change the fact that the movies has b...

Self respect

One other thing that I've noticed has changed when it comes to age is the 3 letter word - sex. As I was going through my diary , besides the usual thing that I've discovered about myself, I realised that I used to have so much more sex back then. Now airing my panty in the public is not what I really want to do but let's face it, sex is important and everyone does it. Those who choose not to admit it is just lying but it's their choice. There's nothing wrong about keeping it personal nor being a prude, I am not against them!!! So going back to sex, someone did this text on me the other day: Hey, do u mind meeting up even tho i think u r not my type? I'm horny... Honestly that's the best revenge that one can get. After all it doesn't feel great being rejected by a) a person who didn't take the time to even get to know you and b) a person whom you weren't even really interested at the first place. So now I have the last laugh by just ignoring the t...

The start

Image
That's the thing about me - while I might gag at the most superificial sugary sweet fake scenes from movies, I can still appreciate romances as and when it comes. That also doesn't make a 100% grinch as yet, I still believe in love and things sometimes do happen. So joining billions of viewers last Friday, I was deemed unavailable at work (almost changed my out of office email status) and parked myself at one of the room with Astro and sat there watching the live telecast of that wedding while bitching away with another friend about the fashion and the faux pas. It was indeed a beautiful ceremony and I can't understand why people have to be grinchy about - just as much as I can't understand why people would want to line up for a product that cost just the same if you buy it today or tomorrow - it's all marketing tactic, limit the quantity and suddenly everyone turns into the zombie for the cult of Jobs. Anyway, as usual I digress. So it's abit of wedding overkil...

Sick

Feeling sick, probably coming down with something. Never take care of my diet, that's why. But still can't sleep. Remembered something I read somewhere and it's true Those who are single wants to be attached and those that are attached wondered how it would like to be single again. Such is life

Stole it right from my mouth

Sometimes it feels like you are the only one in the world and it seems like your problem is the only problem in the world but as you go along, you will notice that other people with the right sensible mind faces what you face as well...as a single late 20something going 30something gay man going about making sense of the world. In general, I found that gay men, most of them fall into this category, quote unquote from another blogger: "that pair of shoes, that I-phone, Grinder, dating this and dating that, going to market place, being noticed in Facebook, and wishing someelse would give me his heart, sex, people gaining more fans, or either somebody wanted some photographer to take their picture and enter the hall of fame, or somebody wanted to get into a chinese hunk contest" I think what's missing from that list would be the gyming, body perfection part which annoys the hell out of me - but then again what can I say? to each is their own isn't it? And then...

Do you remember?

Of late, I have been home consistently early (my definition of early is different very lar) and one of the things that I've noticed on TV was the return of shows from the past. I suppose kids/cikus these days might not know but those who are somewhat old enough in the 90s will know this - back in the day we don't even have more than 5 TV channels and there was no Internet nor iPhone or anything else. Any form of entertainment on TV - Chinese language would either came from Hong Kong (in VHS tape, TV series) or locally produced. Back then HVD was the giant production house who produced tons of Chinese and Malay TV series. Looking back, the quality aint that bad - just that I noticed guys back then like to wear vest, oversized clothing, some even have suspenders, funny glasses and floppy hair. But of course the good times (and bad fashion) has to end, HVD went kaput during 1997's recession and all the actors lost their job. Most of them either tried their luck overseas or wen...

In living news

A 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck late Thursday, the strongest aftershock since a massive quake and tsunami pulverised hundreds of kilometers of the northeastern coast. I have decided that life is wayyyy to short and too fragile. No, I didn't went back to my cigarette. It's bad but not that bad. I've just decided to bring my best bits out. No more keeping it for that special occasion. Who knows if that occasion never comes. Abit of color blocking for work today

A new year, new me and new bag?

Image
So how was your new year/holiday/year end? arguably it's my favorite time of the year as things move slowly (yeah right), lights are more romantic, people are in a better mood and work is slower (yeah right) but all in all, it's good or rather has been good. Then it's really back to reality and another 10-11 months before we can go happy holidays again. It's not that bad because looking back all these years, I have always been quite happy with things. Job aint bad and there are many things to be thankful for. Luckily this year/or rather end of last, I've found something extra to be thankful for. As difficult as it is, everything that has happened turned out to be a blessing for me and all I can hope for is a better year ahead. Despite not getting any younger (yes, I am turning three o soon) and not any richer, one shouldn't complain. Though I really need to be more serious in planning my life now. Before I knew it, I will be 40 and with no hair. But at least for...

The way things are...

My god, where do I begin? So many things happened and so many changes. All in the short-but-sometimes-fun-and-can-be-scary-a-well-month called December. The usual style of the month would be filled with drinking, parties, smoking, drinking, celebrations, shopping, tons of wrapping, drinking, smoking, not much work, drinking, smoking, overspending and did I mentioned drinking and smoking? But the change for this year is rather interesting, work is actually quite on par with every other months, I tried cutting down on the shopping, maybe I am behaving in the style of "in this economy", hence cutting down on the presents and etc (but I never skim on love...lol) and for the first time, I actually look forward to spending the end of the year with someone. It's a nice feeling...it's not to say that my previous rather quiet Christmas is bad, just nice and almost too comforting. A change is always nice and this year is everything but same. Change is nice. Let's embrace it...

Just say NO

Image
It's been awhile and I have been racking up quite a number of bags over some time and while it's all fun and all, I've always have this sneaky feeling just tossed aside that it's not exactly the best and right thing to do. It started off as rewarding oneself but somehow the need never cease. There is always one and another one more to acquire and while it's not exactly all adding extra harm to my cards (no bad debt here), it is also not exactly healthy for my savings. Which brings me to the point, what savings? I know we have talked about the general gay community who lived on buy now, think later - kind of live for the day attitude. It's not exactly a bad thing, to go for 'things' and live the day like it's your last but somehow a backup plan is always required. To a certain extand, I might have it but I don't know. I am guessing this is due to the Chinese boy in mind, the mentality of being safe and save. For now at least I am safe/save. I don...
