Why I will continue writing on Medium

Image
In case you didn't know, my new fav place to read is now Medium.com. What is Medium, you asked? Medium is a blog publishing platform. It was founded by Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone in August 2012.  Williams and Stone decided to write the platform software from the ground up, with the idea of encouraging existing Twitter users to create longer posts than the 140-character standard of that service. - Wikipedia Go on, try it. Read what others have to say about everything in life - the writings are sorted in collections and it's nice to read about some POVs that are more important than an interview with stupid playboy (so she claimed to fame to be) model wearing a hijab. I have also started publishing on Medium. Yes, thats a big word but one have to start and try somewhere right? I don't fancy myself as a proper writer. Just someone with a story to share and tell.

Tales of...Vietnam : Plans, interrupted

This is the first installment from my travel tales which was inspired by Give Live Explore who described his published book called Tales of Iceland as sort of like an anti-guide book for traveling, I have nothing against guide book and in fact some of my travel become easier thanks to them. But like everything else I learn from advertising and branding, there's just no point doing what everyone else is doing - you can get a summary, review or guide somewhere else but you won't get my experience and some misadventure anywhere but here. As some of you might have known and read by now, I've planned out my Laos and Vietnam trip down to almost military precision - having done that since India and then during my New Zealand trip with my friends. Most people are more than happy to follow along because lets face it, planning is a bitch. While there is a concrete plan, I do allow rooms for slight changes for example, too tired to go to yet another attraction or rather stay in t...

Trip of a lifetime

Image
I know how everyone will call certain trips as trip of a lifetime but this is certainly one of them. Too tired to talk about them now - backpacking in your 30s is not easy esp when you are not fit. So, here we have a highlight from each area that I visited. For now.

A little calculation for the next trip

So far, I have finally booked all the flights - yes its plural because I will be boarding not 2 but 6 flights altogether in 10 days. Crazy? Yes but mainly because either I have no choice or its cheaper than train. Amazing right? And I save more time too. KUL - VTE : RM184.00 VTE -  LPQ: RM206.77 (while there are cheaper alternative such as bus, I would save up to 11 hours) LP - HN - RM500 vs a bus ride that is 24 hours HN - DAD - RM130 (cheaper and shorter time than train) DAD - SGN - RM130 (cheaper and shorter time than train) SGN - KUL - RM176.31 All in all, before even departing, I have spent more than 1K on transport alone. Makes me wonder if I really did the right and cheap thing. But then again if I look at it from the point that I am visiting two countries and not just touch and go to the capital cities but rather explore the country...is it too much of a price to pay? I suppose I can and I will skim on the places to stay and such. Could I do it all under 2K?
